How To Get The Perfect Manicure

How To Get The Perfect Manicure

How To Get The Perfect Manicure

How do you get perfect looking nails? What’s the right manicure for you? Here are our tips to have the perfect manicure:

1. French Manicures—Always a classic look, French manicures make your nails look longer. Wear paler shades for serious moments like a job interview.

2. Gel or Shellac nails—If you have a busy lifestyle, or you just want long lasting colour without the upkeep, this is just right for you.

3. Your Skin Tone And Colour—Make sure the colour of your polish compliments your skin tone. For blue undertones, choose pinkish nudes, deep violet, fuchsia or cherry red. For olive and yellow undertones, opt for beige or white nudes, chocolates and corals. One trick when testing a new shade, use a piece of clear tape stuck to your nail.

4. Choose A Flattering Nail Shape—An oval shape flatters most hands, but if you want to soften your look, go for a round shape. Square and “squoval” look best on long fingers. A pointed nail is more daring and makes nails look longer.

5. For Smudge Or Chip—Dab a little acetone on the trouble spot and smooth it out. Once it dries, fill in the area with matching nail polish and a topcoat.

6. First Aid For A Cracked Nail—It happens, so try this quick fix at home. Cut a strip from a tea bag to cover the nail. Apply a base coat then wet the tea bag strip with polish, and wrap it around the nail. Smooth it out and seal with another layer of polish.

7. Prevent an “Oops!” moment—Get out your keys and wallet out before your manicure starts. This will help lessen the chances of an “Oops!” moment happening.

Why We Will Never, EVER Cut Your Cuticles!

Why We Will Never, EVER Cut Your Cuticles!

Why We Will Never, EVER Cut Your Cuticles!

Have you ever heard of a nail salon cutting a person’s cuticles? Yes, sadly, it happens all too often.

The truth is you should never cut them! Why?

Cuticles have an extremely important function. They protect you from infection by preventing bacteria and fungus from getting into your body.

When cuticles are cut that barrier is gone.

Don’t cut them!

With our professional manicures, we will push back your cuticles, but we won’t cut them. It’s just not safe.

For dry, rough cuticles, which are an indication of dry hands, we will apply cuticle oil while filing your nails to soften them. Or, if your hands are very dry, we may encourage you to add a paraffin dip to your service.

Regular manicures and follow up home care are the best ways to keep your cuticles from becoming a problem.

To prevent hangnails and promote the health of your hands, get regular professional manicures. They will keep your hands and nails healthy, while making you feel more confident and prettier!

How To Know If Your Nails Lack Moisture

How To Know If Your Nails Lack Moisture

How To Know If Your Nails Lack Moisture

You might not realize it, but those weak nails you’re always fretting over may have a moisture problem. Ruling out any serious medical condition, hardworking hands are often plagued by dry nails.

Sure signs that your nails need moisture are:

  • They break easily and seem brittle
  • Splitting or peeling of the nail
  • Nails curve inward at medium/long lengths

Nails need moisture to stay healthy and pliable. Everyday activities like handling paper, cleaning, using polish remover frequently, washing hands often, and working with chemicals can dry your nails and your hands.

Regular manicures are a tremendous help to keep nails in good health. Consider them part of your nail care plan. Buffing, trimming, and cleaning your nails promote good nail health.

Massaging the nail bed as well as your hands and arms stimulate skin and muscle, improving blood flow, and relieving aches and pains.

As part of your manicure service, we will recommend an effective nail strengthening product to fortify and strengthen your nails.

With regular manicures and the consistent use of a nail strengthener, you’ll be amazed at the beautiful difference in your hands and nails!

Just like your skin, nails can become dehydrated. Instead of flexibility, you’ve got splitting, tearing, and peeling.

There are a lot of reasons that nails become weak and break. Sometimes it’s a medical condition that can cause it, like hypothyroidism, but sometimes Mother Nature is to blame.

Culprits like aging and menopause have been cited as reasons for peeling and breakage. Nutritional deficiencies such as vitamin A, C, D, and B vitamins can cause brittle nails as well.

Trade in dry, weak nails for strong, flexible nails. Include regular manicures as part of your recovery program. Relaxing and hardworking, manicures promote the health of both your hands and nails.

We’ll care for your cuticles, trim and shape your nails, and massage your hands and arms. We’ll also massage your nail beds! When we buff your nails to a high shine, we stimulate blood flow and that promotes stronger, healthier nails.

Our nail technician will also suggest nail strengthening products to fortify and strengthen your nails. With our expertise and care, we’ll help you build strong healthy nails that make you feel more confident and prettier!

The official name for brittle nails is onychoschizia. But no matter what you call them, they rank at the top of the list for embarrassment and frustration.

Brittle nails are usually soft and thin. They might grow but then they split and peel. Ruling out serious health problems, brittle nails are usually the result of an inadequate diet and/or overexposure to chemicals, excessive hand washing, housecleaning, and so on.

In other words, life.

But there is good news! Opting to care for your hands and nails can reap big rewards. Half of that care comes with regular manicures. Our professionally trained nail technician will clean, file and trim, shape, and buff your nails to a high shine.

Buffing your nails actually promotes blood flow in the nail bed, which promotes healthy nail growth. And that’s what you want!

Our technician will also suggest a nail strengthener to fortify and strengthen your nails. This is very important because it protects fragile nails while rebuilding them.

The other half of nail care comes in the form of nutrition. Nails need plenty of protein, B vitamins and C. Make sure you eat real food that supports building healthy nails and body.

If your nails are causing you problems, we can help. Make an appointment today!
