Dealing With Sensitive Skin By Beauty Salon Great Missenden – Call Us On 01494 865005
Sensitive skin is the hardest to maintain.
Medical conditions like lupus, rosacea, eczema and more can cause skin to be extremely sensitive. The skin becomes easily irritated, gets redness and lumps.
Furthermore, sensitive skin can also be oily. This makes it difficult to reduce oil, and acne without causing irritation.
But the good news is, it can be done!
If your sensitive skin is causing you problems, come in for a professional skin diagnosis. One of our highly trained aestheticians will gently and thoroughly examine your skin.
She will talk to you about your everyday routine, the challenges you have had to deal with, and take a look at what’s going on beneath the surface. Along with her professional expertise. she will give you a clearer picture of your skin’s true condition.
From there, your aesthetician can make product and treatment recommendations to help decrease sensitivity.
Having sensitive skin can bring a lot of heartache and expense. The best way to start dealing with it is by getting a professional skin analysis.

Why Is My Skin So Red? By Beauty Salon Great Missenden – Call Us On 01494 865005
Who doesn’t like a rosy glow? But when that glow turns red and angry, it’s time to take a second look.
There are several causes—and solutions—to calm your skin, so let’s take a look at them:
• – Irritation- Skin that is extremely dry can become red and look like a rash! We’ve worked with women who had dry, irritated skin so long they didn’t realize it was severe. Once they started using our products, which properly hydrated and lubricated their skin, they could not believe how different and comfortable it felt. Not to mention that they lost about 5 years!
• – Rosacea- Scientists still aren’t sure what causes this mysterious condition, though theories abound. Usually, cheeks, chin and nose become bright red. When active, rosacea also has pimples. Certain foods can trigger a flare up. But again, it’s very individual. Topical medications help to tame the redness, as well as laser. Good quality skin care is a must.
• – Couperose- Those small, spidery veins that creep across your cheeks, chin and nose are called couperose. They are broken capillaries and blood vessels that have become weak and broken.
Couperose is often the result of heredity, but extremes in temperature and over-exfoliating are also causes. Laser can rid you of it, but there are also products designed to strengthen capillary walls and tame the redness.
A combination of clinical treatment and skincare is recommended. If you’re looking for suggestions to make your skin more comfortable and beautiful, just let us know.
That’s what we do best!

Maybe you’ve tried to ignore those lines and wrinkles staring back at you in the mirror. Or, maybe you’ve studied how to hold your head just right so that the sagging around your mouth and jaw line aren’t really that noticeable.
It’s a funny game we play to keep from facing a simple truth: we all age.
With modern life becoming increasingly stressful combined with the massive consumption of processed foods, hormonal changes are occurring earlier than in your mother or your grandmother’s time!
Collagen and elastin are breaking down faster to create:
– Premature sagging
– Premature Wrinkling
– Even Acne!
The good news is you don’t have to stand by and watch it happen.
As you know, there are many anti-aging therapies that can effectively slow down and even turn back Father Time.
Laser therapy, considered the “gold” standard in anti-aging, actually heats and melts the skin to encourage the production of collagen. That didn’t sound like a state of the art way to reverse damaged skin. Plus, it’s ridiculously expensive!
Instead, we decided on the Nobel Prize winning LED light therapy. Extremely safe and highly effective, LED works with your body—it doesn’t force it—to stimulate the production of new collagen and elastin.
Look at the additional benefits of LED:
– Diminishes the symptoms of rosacea
– Reduces pore size
– Minimizes appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and crow’s feet
– Repairs sun-damaged skin
– Diminishes redness and flushing
– Minimizes dry patches, itching and sensitivity related to eczema
Acclaimed and documented for aging, healing wounds, treating cancer, and skin diseases, LED is now a healthy revolution in anti-aging. Feel good about looking in the mirror. Talk to us about LED today!

No matter what season it is, your skin craves moisture. Summer sun dries it up (and makes it greasy) and cold winter temperatures freeze it up!
To protect your skin all year long, we recommend these hardworking ingredients to keep moisture in your skin and to keep it glowing.
• Ceramides-Naturally found in the membrane of skin cells, these little wonders help prevent moisture loss. By using products that contain ceramides, you actually shore up your skin’s moisturizing defenses.
• Glycerin, Glycols & polyols-All members of the humectant family, these ingredients cause skin to attract moisture and bind it.
• Hyaluronic Acid (HA)-We love, love, love hyaluronic acid! This naturally occurring molecule absorbs about 1,000 times its own weight in water. And that keeps collagen and elastin moist, which helps skin look supple and youthful. HA is also excellent for oily skin that breaks out easily. It’s lightweight, non-oily and appropriate for even the most acne-prone complexions.
Got a question about skincare products? We’d love to hear them!

Carbohydrates And Your Skin By Beauty Salon Great Missenden – Call Us On 01494 865005
Carbohydrates are sugars that break down inside the body to create glucose, which is our primary source of energy.
Eating foods rich in carbs is great, but unfortunately, we often eat way too many of them!
Dr, Jessica Wu, the Hollywood dermatologist, said this. “In one study, volunteers who ate a high carb diet experienced a 20% increase in their levels of androgens (“male” hormones that stimulate oil glands and cause acne) after just one week; volunteers who ate a diet high in protein had balanced blood sugar and lower levels of androgens in a week.”
Also, carbohydrates interact with proteins in your skin. This stimulates enzymes that break down collagen and elastin, making skin thinner and more prone to wrinkles.
Balance carbohydrates with protein and fresh vegetables. Avoid the refined stuff and stick with whole grains for glowing, beautiful skin!
