Are Eye Cremes Just A Scam?

Myth or must? That’s what so many of our clients have asked us about eye cremes. So we decided to set the record straight!

The skin around the eye area differs vastly from the skin on the rest of your body. It is the thinnest and the most delicate, far more sensitive to pollutants, sun damage and allergens than the rest of your body.

If you’ve ever seen someone who has spent too much time in the sun, you will notice two features about them: the skin on their body is leathery and the skin around their eyes is extremely wrinkly and saggy.

That’s why taking care of this area requires more than just moisturizers. You want to keep it supple and firm with good elasticity. Eye cremes are essentially modified moisturizers, and for a very good reason. Because this area does not produce any oil, eye cremes have special emollients that are different from facial moisturizers.

These emollients soothe the area and have fewer additives than facial moisturizers because they aren’t needed. Eye cremes have also been formulated, tested and approved by ophthalmologists to be safe to use around your eyes.

Facial moisturizers do not have that stamp of approval. There is one other difference. Have you noticed reputable facial moisturizers tell you not to apply it close to the eyes?

If you’ve ever applied facial moisturizer close to your eyes, you know what happens. It stings and burns! Save yourself the irritation. Just use the appropriate product around those delicate eyes of yours!
